Tumbled Perfection

Rocks can become smooth on a beach through a process called weathering, which is the wearing away of rock by exposure to the elements. This process can take thousands or millions of years, and the time it takes depends on the type of rock and its toughness as it is tumbled by the waves and current.
 
So the next time you are walking the beach and come accross that beautiful smooth rock you altemittly pick up, remember it took a lot of tumbling against the sand to be worthy of your choosing.
